ADMINISTRATIVE REGULATIONS OF ACTIVITY

The exchange of offers of training is conducted at the Exchange Conference on a reciprocal base. Prior to the conference, each member country collects offers from employers willing to receive students from abroad for a temporary training period. On offers receiving, the national secretaries select qualified students to meet the employers' requirements as outlined in the training offer. Details of the selected candidates are sent to companies for approval.

All fields of study where practical experience is an essential or recommended adjunct to the study course are potentially included on the IAESTE programme. The majority of training offers are made to students of engineering and technology, who also represent the majority of the applicants. Computing, applied science and the life science constitute a significant proportion of the applicants and there are opportunities in some countries for students of agriculture, forestry, architecture, industrial design and related fields.

The exchange procedure is in compliance with an Administrative Calendar, which is normally as follows:
October-December. National Secretaries collect the offers from industrial and other organization for the exchange.
January.Exchange of offers with other members during the Exchange Session, part of the Annual Conference of IAESTE.
February-March.Selection of students for offers from abroad and nomination of selected candidates to receiving countries.
April-June. Arranging work permits, lodging, etc. by the receiving committees.
June-October.Normal season for training period which differs, however, from country to country.
